Because this week you too can hold INFINITY in the palm of your hand!

Do I see a Summer 'Tent-pole' upon the horizon?

As foreseen by the auteur William Blake an ancestor in fact of Mr Bill Everett who contributed  to Marvel Comics #1 which decades later leads us to INFINITY.

Have to be honest here this feels a little like seeing Christmas cards in Sainsbury while shopping for  pumpkins at Halloween.

Age of Ultron's comic corpse is still warm on the shelf and here comes Event #2 for the year!

Jonathan Hickman helms his first major event,a poison chalice if ever there was one (It took Matt Fraction

the best part of a year to rebuild his credibility after Fear Itself and has Brian Bendis ever really recovered from Secret Invasion?)

Luckily Brian Bendis had All New X-Men to deflect any accusations of 'hack' when the axe fell upon the limp neck of Ultron's resolution.

Jonathan Hickman's credibility has never been in question, from his creator owned titles through Fantastic Four to his current prolific output.

I often hear criticism of cold calculation in his long form storytelling for Marvel and that you can always see the outline of his epics like a dot the dot picture or that the intricacies of plot machinations take precedent over emotional development.

So whether INFINITY's 6 issue brevity will prove to be a compressed crucible as deep and as wide enough to tell a satisfying tale without compromising the very essence of what one expects from a Hickman narrative,

only time will tell.

INFINITY is hardly self contained though, its been simmering over in Avengers/New Avengers and after this week inaugural issue boils over into a multitude of Avengers family titles (some closely related others distant cousins...)

Better warn you though #1 is £3.50 but has 30 + pages of story + that Free Comic Book day story we gave you all and features the wondrous pencils of Jim Cheung
