SOMETHING NEW

NEW COMICS

WEDNESDAY 23rd OCTOBER

If you've spent any time online this year (and if you're reading this, I think it's safe to assume you have) you've probably heard about this week's biggest release, PRETTY DEADLY by Captain Marvel and Ghost author Kelly Sue DeConnick and Strange artist Emma Rios.  The story of Death's daughter as told from the point of view of a butterfly and dead rabbit, this Western/Horror epic is already being hailed by many reviewers as the best new comic of 2013.  I'm a huge fan of DeConnick's work, and look forward to finding out for myself if the hype is true. Pretty Deadly isn't the only eagerly anticipated comic out this week however - Ed Brubaker's new 60's thriller Velvet is looking to bring a more realistic viewpoint to the spy genre, animated favourite Samurai Jack (finally!) gets his own comic series, and the fate of Young Loki is revealed in Young Avengers - I just know Kieron Gillen is going to break our hearts once again, so I'm keeping tissues handy while reading this one.

Also shipping are last week's missed titles Justice League #24 and Satellite Sam #4,  and Issue 2 of Matt Fraction's NSFW sell-out (and surprisingly good fun) Sex Criminals.
